Project Description

Historically the Manatee River has served many roles, from home to bustling fishing villages, safe harborage to prolific steamboat traffic on the way to New Orleans, or used as a location to export the phosphate mined in Mulberry and surrounding areas. It is now home to a full range of recreational usages from fishing, boating, various crew training and other events. This project aims to maintain the navigable waters east of I-75 to the Fort Hammer boat ramp. Dredging is currently underway, by both mechanical and hydraulic methods
